Tournament Solutions Partners with NEPGA Foundation

Newburyport, MA

New England PGA Section partner Tournament Solutions is making a difference for the New England PGA Foundation in the 2018 season with a standing donation with purchase.

The Newburyport, MA Company has pledged to donate 10% of all purchases made by PGA Professionals to the NEPGA Foundation. In addition to this, purchases will also give the buying Professionals Clubs’ points to be entered in a larger contest.

Tournament Solutions has been a partner of the New England PGA since the early 2000s. Although they are a national company, they recognize the importance of giving back “locally”.

“We are very excited about launching “Tournament Solutions Fore the Foundation” initiative, with the PGA Section in which our business resides,” said John Lawrence, Managing Partner, Tournament Solutions.  “It is in our opinion that the three pillars of the NEPGA Golf Foundation (Youth, Military and Diversity & Inclusion) are very worthy of a program such as this. What we love about this initiative is that it forms a truly unique partnership between Tournament Solutions and New England PGA Professionals (and their facilities) in that 10% of all their purchases with us will be donated back to the NEPGA Foundation in the name of their club.  Knowing many of the NEPGA professionals personally, we are aware that the NEPGA Golf Foundation is extremely important to them.”

League of their Own

Atkinson, NH Juniors Play in National Championship

-Scottsdale, AZ

The Junior League team from the Atkinson Country Club in Atkinson, NH has represented the New England PGA at the Junior League National Championships at Grayhawk CC in Scottsdale, AZ this week. They finished with a record of 1-2 in the Championship round.

The competition was fierce in Scottsdale as the Atkinson team got set to face off for a chance at the National Championship. They were selected to play in the Wanamaker Division and would have to face team California, team Georgia, and team Ohio before having a chance at the final round.

The California team was a tough first draw for Atkinson; the west coast team was the three-time reigning PGA Junior League Champions. However, New England was up for the challenge. Atkinson CC’s team won their opening match against California 8-4 in Friday’s opening round.

Saturday was a little tougher for the team. In the morning they faced off against team Georgia who were Champions in 2012. Atkinson struggled and lost to Georgia 10-2. They had one more match that afternoon against team Ohio. Atkinson played hard, but unfortunately lost the second match 8.5-3.5.

Team Georgia went on to win the National Championship, defeating Team New Jersey in dramatic fashion, by a score of 6.5-5.5. They went undefeated in their PGA Junior League Championship run.

Regardless of the outcome, making the PGA Junior League Championship is a big accomplishment. The NEPGA would like to congratulate Atkinson Country Club, coaches: Peter Doherty, PGA and Brian Diamond, PGA as well as the team members: James Robbins, Joey Lenane, Alex Landry, Jack Pepin, Aiden Azevedo, Shivani Vora, Stephen Ramos, Evan Desjardins, Nicholas Samaha, and Zachary Diamond. There’s great golf ahead for these juniors!
